prologue (READ FIRST!): https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/517462755/ "Wishteria, honey!" I hear my mom call. "Wishteria, you have some..." she pauses. "Visitors!" I groan and stuff my head back under the pillow. Ever since my wish came true, my doorstep has been crowded 24/7 with people wanting their wishes granted. I smile slightly. Wishteria. The name only my mom calls me now, with everyone calling me Wish. I close my eyes under my pillow, reminiscing about how I just used to be the shy, quiet wallflower, chilling out with my friends and being a regular 13-year-old girl. Until my stupid wish ruined it all. Well, not really a stupid wish, since it kinda saved the world and all that, but... My door opens and I can practically see my mom's eyes soften. "You can always tell them to go away," she whispers softly. "Things can go back to the way they were." I drag my head out from under the pillow. "I have this gift. I need to use it to help." I sit up. "Plus, everyone knows who stopped the destroying of the world. If I stopped granting wishes, our family name would be down the trash." "Haven't you tried?" My mom pleads, and I know instantly what she's talking about. I have this amazing gift for granting wishes, yet somehow it never works when I say I don't want this curse anymore. "You know I have, Mom." I rub my eyes, getting rid of the sleepiness still lingering. "And because my dumb curse is still here, that means that it's destined for something-" "-great," my mom finishes for me. "I know, I know." She kisses the top of my head. "There are only a few people out. Hurry up with them and then get ready for school." I got ready and went outside to meet today's wish-wanters. "A puppy!" A young girl shouts, and I concentrate, The next second, a puppy barks to life right next to her. She picks it up in her arms and happily skips away, forgetting to thank me. I huff and move on to the next person. Fifteen minutes later I'm done. I check my watch and jump. I'm going to be late! I bolt inside the house, grab a granola bar and my backpack, and run outside with the bar between my teeth. I get to my bus stop just in time to see the bus leave. I grit my teeth. I was going to have to RUN to school. ✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧ I arrive at my homeroom class, sweaty and having just missed the bell. My teacher looks up and sees me standing in the doorway, without a tardy slip. "I'm sorry Ms. Arnett!" I walk over. "I was just running late and I forgot to grab a tardy pass from the office and I can go get that now-" "Nonsense!" My teacher cuts me off. "You had your wish granting duties to attend to!" That's when it hits me. Right. All of my teachers try to curry favor with me so I can grant whatever they want. Well, I wasn't about to give special treatment to anyone. "I should really go and get a pass," I say, heading back toward the door. "Please, sit, sit!" She exclaims, a bit too cheerfully. Immediately, one of my classmates stands up and offers me his chair. Suddenly, the whole room is standing, beckoning for me to take their seat. I sigh inwardly. "That's fine everyone, I have my own desk." I sit down, wishing that everything could go back to the way things were. Of course, my wish isn't granted. ✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧ At lunch, I search for a table to sit at. Preferably one in the back corner with the shabby lighting. Hopefully by the trash cans or bathroom so no one will sit next to me.
