[PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS] Hey! Arti here. In my last project, I promised to tell you about my main cat OC. Their names are Claire and Reynie! As you may have seen, in other memes I've done with Claire and Reynie (on @-InkPen-), they have two very different personalities. And she's the same cat? For people who haven't heard of this kind of thing before, this is called split personality disorder, and it is a real thing. Google describes it as "A disorder characterized by the presence of two or more distinct personality states. Dissociative identity disorder is characterized by the presence of two or more distinct personality identities. Each may have a unique name, personal history, and characteristics." In Claire and Reynie's case, this is true. Reynie is very self-conscious, overthinks things, is an introvert, and is scared of a lot of things. (When I use Claire and Reynie's character, Reynie has purple eyes and Claire has magenta. This is only so you can tell the difference :>) Claire, though, is very open, optimistic, extrovert, and daring. How do they even live in the same body together? They're so different. While one personality is out and controlling things, the other personality is inside. Some people describe them as spectating, or, in other words, just watching from inside while the other is in reality..? And when they switch, the one who was controlling starts to spectate. Claire was originally the only one in the body, but after a traumatic experience, Reynie was introduced and they began to share the body. Claire was camping near a lake with her family. As an only child, she often needed to entertain herself. Claire asked her parents if she could walk down to the lake by herself. She was seven, at the time. Her parents agreed, but told her to be back in twenty minutes. Claire ran off down the trail to the lake, skipping and smiling. Suddenly, the trail split off into two paths. One looked like a normal hike, the only scenery was ferns and trees. The other had a beautiful view of the mountains. Claire, wanting a prettier walk, chose the mountain trail. Off she went, humming. She didn't notice the sign that said "10 miles - Peak Loop" It had a large yellow and red warning symbol on it, but it was covered in dust and mud. Claire walked for what seemed like a long time. Her pace had slowed, and she was exhausted. She had no water or food. she sat down on the ground for a few minutes to catch her breath. She had to back into the side of the mountain to avoid falling off of the ledge. A few tears ran down her cheeks. She struggled to get up. She walked back into the shade of the trees, turning around to go back to her camp. She no longer wanted to see the lake. She ran as fast as she could, back to her camp. About half an hour later, she was nearly back to her camp. She stumbled onto the picnic table at the site, expecting to see her parents rush over to her. The site was empty. The sky was dark, with no moon. The leaves in the trees rustled. Claire started to shiver violently, wishing she'd never asked to go. Her parents were somewhere out there, without her, wondering where she'd gone. She'd been left behind. A few hours had gone by, and her parents were still gone. Claire's face was red and wet from sobbing. Suddenly, she heard her name being called. It was her Obi! "Obi!" Claire yelled. Then, abruptly, Claire felt a strong pulsing in her head. Out of nowhere, she was watching someone use her body. Reynie was here. That's how Claire met Reynie! :D I hope you enjoyed my story. The wring wasn't great, but I tried. Please tell me in I got anything incorrect! :] If you're still confused, I found some info on what switching feels like. Full credit to the writer, but I forgot their username ;w; ""Friendly switching" is when A is fronting and asks B to front, so B comes to the front. When this happens, my heart speeds up a little and my body gets limp, like I'm falling asleep, then goes back to normal once the alter is in front. "Clinical switching" is when, just like in the diagnosis, A experiences anxiety so B takes over. This can be driven either by A's self-preservation instinct or B's protection instinct. This is the same feeling as friendly switching, but more of a head rush, like standing up too fast. I often get dizzy and have to hold onto something during this kind of switching. "Hostile Switching" is when B wants to front, but A won't let them, so B attempts to take the front forcefully. The success rate of this is 50/50 when alters are one against one, but other alters can help keep someone in the front or put someone new up front. When the clash for the front is happening, I get a splitting migraine every time. After the fact, no matter who ended up fronting, I can't see straight all day. Sometimes even my body is sore." Have a good day, and please stop by my profile if you have any more questions :> Also, huge apology if there's a spelling error ;w;
