Welcome to the new Subaru Baja. Sharing much of its character with the predecessor, the new Baja shares much of its parts and mechanicals with the Outback. So, why is Subaru bringing back the Baja? Subaru is bringing back the Baja because of demand for small trucks such as the Ford Ranger, Toyota Tacoma, and another new competitor, the Hyundai Santa Cruz. The Baja will come in various colors, such as the iconic Baja Yello, Lapis Blue Pearl, Venetian Red Pearl, and Ice Silver Metallic. You can opt for one of two engines, the Outback's 182 horsepower flat-4, or a WRX-derived unit producing 310 horsepower. There will also be a limited Launch Edition, which features special decals, special interior fabric, and other off-road accessories. Only 2,000 will be made, with a starting price of $39,995. Expect to pay around $30,000 for the base model, and about $40,000 for the version with the WRX engine.
