Right before Sonic got too close to the Sun, he awoke and went Hyper. He was still flying at the Sun, but summoned a shield to protect him. Once the shield touched the sun, it exploded. Sonic was still alive in the shield and teleported to Earth. (scroll down) (Earth has a Shield around it that is invisible. It can be protected from any attack, so if you logical people say the earth will explode, it wont.)
