#Empower When I was going through the chapter of "Evolution in my textbook, I wondered why there had never been a diagram showing the evolution of women. I asked my mom and she said it was the same as men. I was not convinced. Yes we all are Human beings, but we women have our own existence too. Then I wondered if gender discrimination was related to history. When we talk about independence we think of Mahatma Gandhi (ji) but I've never heard anyone say that Kasturba Gandhi was part of it too. We say that every successful man has a woman behind him. Do we really mean it? CA Bhavani Devi was told that fencing was not a good sport for women. So what created this thinking, this discrimination? Pink is a girl ish colour and blue is a boyish colour. Guys should not wear makeup and girls should not wear short clothes. Aren't we the ones who created these theories? In a country having male dominance in every field, it feels okay for having such thoughts, but you know what it... is... not...okay! Girls are scared to wear whatever they want on t streets but it's hilar ious to say that men roam freely in the streets with towels hanging on their waists. Yes, both the scenarios take place in the same country. Cooking when done by women is a duty while done by men is an art. When men carry out businesses or jobs it's their duty and when the same thing done by a woman it is a skill/talent. Shouldn't we be ashamed of cre ating such stereotypes? People forget that life of a woman doesn't end after marriage, it's just a new chapter of their life. But what can we do? We don't even respect our mother, our mother India. We disrespect her by cutting her beautiful trees and littering her. So how can we respect other women? We talk about women empowerment, but isn't it the thinking of women which should be empowered first. Think about it and take a step towards it. We must come out of our prejudices.
