Prologue- !Blood Warning! (If you are sensitive, I suggest not reading this) Run, run, run. Erik ran. He ran faster than he had before in his entire life, because now, it wasn't just his life on the line, it was his second born child's. He gripped the crying baby to his chest as he hurdled down the path, racing for his child's life. He came to a stop under the shelter of a large pine tree, and listened. After a few moments, his ears managed to ignore the deafening sound of crickets and cicadas screaming as if in some sort of contest. Large Wingbeats. Humming in an attempt to calm the child, he reached for his lantern and pulled it out in front of him. A large creature scrambled away from him, taking flight, and disappearing, screeching fearfully. He took a few steps. More rustling sounds. He started down the path again, at every few steps a tree beside him shook as creatures of the night desperately clambered away from the light. And then he tripped. And the light went out. And his heart stopped. And the child was crying again. And the trees were shaking. And he was in pain, Erik had managed to fall on his knees, which would undoubtedly be bruised later, but in his sudden fall, he had dropped both the lantern, and the child, only one of which had conveniently landed in some thick bushes. He made a decision, and dropped down on all fours, scrambling blindly for the lantern. Just as he wrapped his fingers around it, there was a sudden screech from above. He quickly lit it in time to see giant talons swooping up the child, quickly dropping him as the light came on. The child was screaming at this point, and as Erik clutched the child again, and began running down the path again, he heard the animals in the trees growing restless. They wanted the child. They wanted him. They wanted his family.
