Hey there, its been a while since I shared something on Scratch, and some of you may have been wondering where I've been. Let's just say that I've been doing a lot in the background, and I want to reflect on what has happened over the past year. Let's get this out of the way, the production of EFY 2024 has taken a lot longer than anticipated. And while it is easy to blame the fact that I've had gradually less time working on Scratch projects throughout my college years, there was another factor that I failed to take account when progress reached a near standstill, and it's my inexperience of making large projects like these. You see, over the past 12 years on Scratch, I've made relatively short animations that didn't require a lot of planning and storyboarding. Because of this, I felt like I had a gift of whipping up whatever came to mind. So, when I started working on animating scenes for EFY 2024, I thought I could carry the same mindset over, thinking that a movie is much like a series of small animations. However, this became a problem when I started making edits to the story and script, and adding/deleting scenes that I thought were necessary to keep the narrative consistent throughout the movie. Simply put, my own ego is the reason why this film is in development hell. I kind of knew for a fact that at some point, I would not be able to animate this all on my own, and would need help. Well, today is that day. At this time, I am looking for interested, committed individuals to help me out putting the animation together. Earlier this year, I've talked to a few college friends with film experience if they want to help me out with this project. However, I want to broaden my perspective. Which is why I am also looking for those interested on Scratch, and have prior experience in film, to reach out to me via comment. I am particularly looking for people who are interested in helping with the storyboarding, and with putting together scenes (layering, positioning of sprites, etc), but I am open to having people with other skills aboard the crew. Inside this project are a few screenshots of the project in development, and how it has evolved from early 2023-mid 2024. Regardless of outcome, I look forward to start working on this film again this summer, when I have officially graduated with a Bachelor's in CS and I have developed a new plan of production.
