double flagh. space bar, arrow keys, or click to go through the screenshots. they're ordered chronologically on when I finished them. sorry about the bar at the top, this was my first time screenshotting my game. heyyyy time for me to infodump: 1-8. this was the first thing I built, and I just wanted to experiment with the new blocks from the lush caves. it's meant to be filled with as much life as I could shove into it. 9-10. this tower used to be a lot taller. it's called the heaven tower, and under it is an alternate version leading downward. I blew up most of the top portion to give it the ruined look that tied it into the rest of the world. 11-18. my house! even though this world is in creative, I wanted it to be livable in survival, hence the berries and honey. other than that, it's just a basic floating island. I used soul sand to keep the lake from freezing over. 19-20. a mysterious pair of ribs in an equally strange desert. I wanted it to look like it'd recently been underwater, so that's why there's so much dead coral. the sign reads "monsters rest here." 21-25. my original intention with this cave was to be an underwater nether portal, but it broke while submerged, and that's where I got the "ruined portal" idea. It's meant to look infested (definitely not inspired by dsmp egg lore). 26. a foggy lake. its color mimics nether portals. 27-30. this one was made to echo the color scheme of ocean monuments. I wanted it to look like an altar, abandoned by its god. story: in my creative world, the nether and the overworld are vaguely sentient beings that compete for territory. for millennia, they were held at bay by a gatekeeper. this gatekeeper physically manifests as a giant whale, and is known mainly as a water deity. for this world, I wanted to tie in the theory that minecraft takes place post-apocalypse. the humans that once lived in this world were virtually immortal and granted the power of flight, almost like a player in creative mode (wink wink). somehow, the water leviathan was killed (still fleshing that part out), and the nether breached its boundaries. any humans in the nether were swallowed by its vines, and they live a half-life trapped in the lava. they can choose to die, but some still hold out hope. the guardian's corpse (the ribs) appeared near the largest shrine to it, the water spiral. in an area of mostly grass, the sandy hill isn't natural. neither is the dead coral, as the surrounding land has never been submerged. the water spiral was an altar to this fallen deity, but it's long since abandoned. the water at its top only recently started flowing again, maintained by my character. my character, the sole survivor of this apocalypse, moved to the sky soon after the gatekeeper's demise. they know that the nether is under the overworld, and they want to stay as far away as possible. their island has waterfalls on its side because the nether's reaches are slowed by water. they have lived for ages, watching the villagers slowly evolve. the infested cave portal was the result of the villagers' experimentation with the nether. the nether can only access the overworld through these portals, and the villagers weren't aware of that risk. my character managed to spot it and flood it before it could get out of the cave. in this world, glow squid are attracted to great power, and they are the only thing that can live in this cursed area. the mossy gazebo sprung up suddenly, already covered in plants. any who enter it are imbued with heightened abilities. it's meant to be the opposite of the infested cave, bursting with life. the glow squid that live in its moat increase by the day, a sign of... something growing in its center well. a new guardian, one of earth and not water. the heaven tower doesn't tie into the story as much. it was a place to honor the few dead, but its "heaven" portion has fallen into ruin. the "hell" portion is untouched because of its close proximity to lava (a substance of the nether), as is the base of the "heaven" section. sometimes my character likes to fly to its top and watch the sunset. the foggy lake is caused by the nether attempting to enter though the gaps the water guardian left behind.
