Nightshifters are MYOs, or make your owns, meaning they’re an open species! They do have some rules though, so make sure to read those before making one of you wanna! The rules for ancients and normal ones are different, so keep that in mind. Under this, you will find a tidbit of their lore and how their society works, so keep reading if you’re interested. Society: Nightshifters are usually trained by their parents starting at the age of five, learning how to properly use their power, and developing skills to fend for themselves. They will continue this training up until the age of fifteen, when they’re ready to leave the nest if they wish. They’re given a choice to either leave or stay at this point, and being loners, they mostly choose to leave. They’re not very aggressive, but they aren’t against fighting for self-defense, and will if needed, although they prefer to run from danger. Since Nightshifters are cats by day, some may be part-time housecats, and are generally accepted pretty well by society, as well as hybrids between two living variants of Nightshifter. On the other hand, hybrids between ancients and normal Nightshifters are looked down upon as weak, and many don’t think they’re capable of anything special. Lore: Nightshifters, often titled as the “Bringers of the Storm”, can’t actually summon storms like many believe. Instead, the reason why they’re only seen during storms is that they don’t like showing their true appearance, and mostly rely on the cover of the night, storms, and heavy fog for disguise. They have adapted to the harsh climates that wiped out the ancients, and are usually seen all over the world, with a double-layered coat to help with keeping warm, and keeping cool, although they do tend to avoid the desert because of the sand and the wide open area where they can easily stand out. They usually also avoid the plains for the same reason, albeit a bit less since there’s at least tall grass to hide in. Powers: Normal animals(usually cats or foxes) by day, Nightshifters only turn into their true forms at night or during storms/fog, and absorb their powers from the moon through their firefly tails. They also have the power of levitation, although not very strong, only allowing them to float for short periods of time, if not being lifted up by the currents.
If you use the base, please credit me for it! P.S: if you’re curious about how the hybrid system works, it works in a similar way to how it does in the wings of fire books, no two hybrids are exactly the same.
