I remember in 4th grade we of course had done a lot of cover and hold drills but that year we actually needed to do the real thing because of a tornado. Literally nobody was calm except the few older kids who didn't care whether or not the school was destroyed. All the little kids were crying and crying. This happened during the time parents were supposed to pick us up and buses went out so we just huddled against the walls of the hallways because ya know- if the ceiling were to crumble, the sides and corners are the most supported so usually those don't collapse with the rest of it or collapse as badly.
