*inhales* okay so. This song was almost an actual bop. almost. The concept, melody, and lyrics were all great. The execution of making the song was not so great. 1st Reason: The first thing I don't like about the song is how the original singers perform it. AAAAAAA it makes me cringe every time. Don't get me wrong, they have amazing voices and they sing like angels, BUT THEIR ACTING- HONEY, NO As an actor, you feel like you have to be big and bold and perform super over the top, but you really don't need to. And that's something a lot of actors struggle with. It's hard to stand there and do (essentially) nothing with your acting. But sometimes doing less is more, especially when the emotion is a very personal emotion like a crush. That sort of emotion doesn't need a lot of showy vocals or movements. These emotions are sweet and sincere. When you write songs about that stuff, it's like sharing a character's inside thoughts, which are usually awkward and shy, not big, bold, and showy like they're represented in the original version of the song. 2nd reason: THE SONG LITERALLY HAS TWO VERSES BEFORE THE HUGE CHORUS, LIKE WHAT- There is basically no build-up to the chorus. The build up is what makes the super big high notes amazing. It's the anticipation. This song literally has 2 verses before you sing that super high belty note on the word "Valentine". Those bring-the-house-down notes are supposed to be saved for the end of the song. The entire song is supposed to lead up to that huge climactic release of emotion. There is no dramatic build up and no climactic release of emotion, so the song basically looses it's punchline. so I decided to do this song in a way I think would make it better. (I obviously can't change that there are 2 verses before the climactic notes but I fixed the acting, at least I think)
