Happy belated Orange Shirt Day! I posted this a little late, homework keeps piling on and on . . . The order of the stanzas in the poem are from top to bottom, top to bottom. You might want to be on full screen to actually read the poem :) This was written for a school project and took me about 5 hours to make? Also, thanks to Adobe Spark for the background. Soooo sorry for the blurriness! Hope you enjoy and let’s all mourn for the children who didn’t make it back alive to their families. Please don’t forget to leave a heart and a fav to honour all the children who had to go through the torture.. If you don’t know what orange shirt day is, I’ve written a basic overview of it in the notes and credits section..
The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, also known as Orange Shirt Day, is a Canadian statutory holiday. It is a national day in the remembrance of the victims of the Canadian Indian residential school system between 1834 and 1996. These schools were established in order strip away the Indigenous children out of their culture. This is one of the things that we must learn and educate others about to ensure that things like these are not repeated in the future again.
