I am trying to redo some old designs to get some practice with designs So here's Birch! I made the palette first and tried to stick with it, so the design was interesting to figure out. She's pretty disinterested in the struggles of the people around her and she's definitely petty. Comes with being royalty, I suppose So the backstory/story I had for her before I dropped it: She's the only heir to the throne, and she knows that makes her important. Her dismissiveness of other's troubles made her father eventually have her train as a guard to learn some humility. There she learns of a plot to overthrow the king and, in trying to stop it, gets thrown in the prison. (I have no details lol) So the rebellion happens, and succeeds, and Birch is the sole surviving member of the royal family. She's stuck in the woods (probably with other people?) and plots to retake the throne Thus she meets Moss, a lone wanderer that had gotten lost in the nearby woods long ago and never found his way out. The way these woods work is that if you don't have some sort of landmark or map to keep track of where you are, you get lost. Sometimes people find their way out, sometimes they don't. So character development probably happens here, Birch probably figures out that empathy is a thing, and now she's going to take back the throne and avenge her parents. Yea, she succeeds, I think there was like a betrayal? But Moss helps out and things end well for them It's been so long since I have thought about this story so I probably forgot a couple of things. I know for a fact Birch wasn't nearly as much of a jerk in the original but all of my characters had no personality sooooo... Also I feel like this could totally be the beginning of Birch being a villain and Moss not really happy with what's going on. Because I really think Birch is not the kind of person that would do well at leading a kingdom Yay villain backstories!
