LondonLife Chapter 1 “London! Its 7:03!” London’s mom told her in a rushed tone. “Oh, shi….” London watched her mouth. She got right up, threw on her backpack, said bye to her cat and family then started sprinting out of the door. It was a dark and cold October morning, the only bright things at this time were the glowing moon and streetlights, that made her brown, amber-ish hair look like a dark red She turned onto California street, now almost wheezing as she could she the soft, reflected glow of her friend’s cell phones on their faces. “London! You made it!” Pansy said as she glanced up from her phone and gave London a high five. “yeah, are you ok?” London’s other friend nova asked. “It looks like you ran a short marathon.” She continued sarcastically. “It feels like it!” London giggled, adjusting her backpack straps. Suddenly there was a low rumble and screech as the bus came to a stop and the doors opened. Once they arrived at school London and her friends walked up to the 7th grade floor, all of them excited to get the week over with. London said bye to them then walked into her science teacher’s room. “Are you ready to write about the earths plates?” Ms. Avocado asked her as she walked in. “Not necessarily,” London sighed, grabbing her folder and beginning to work on her catalyst. Before she knew it, 1st period was over and she left to go to her next class, art. Her friend Rabi greeted her then squealed, “Look over there!” London turned to who she was pointing out. Kestrel. Her crush. London sighed deeply, when suddenly Kestrel looked back. London blushed, and headed into the classroom. At the same time Kestrel came in. Rabi looked at her in a way only a friend looks at you when your crush is around and told London to go ahead of her. So, even though it was already awkward both kestrel and London had to go in the classroom at the same time! Once Rabi and London got to their desk, they talked about how their day was and mixed up the paints they were using. “You know what I told kestrel?” Rabi told London, wiping the blue paint off her paintbrush. “What?” London winced, looking over at Kestrel. He was leaning on his hand staring at her, but not in a mean way, in a friendly way. “London, I’m over here!” Rabi laughed, pointing at herself. “Oh yeah,” London murmured, no longer zoning out. “Well, if you were listening to me, I said I told kestrel how one of my friends likes him!” Rabi counited, looking proud of herself. “What the hell!” London whispered, but it must have not been a little louder than a whisper because the art teacher looked at her in a concerned way. “That is literally what I told you not to do!” London ranted. “Well, I can’t change the past.” Rabi said. Today was not going as a Friday should go London realized. She knew it was going to be a long day.
