Chapter 2 “Hello London, good thing you’re not late. Especially today.” Mr. Vern said, handing London a 4 paged thick packet. “Seriously, a math test!” Pearl, one of her friends said, in an annoyed tone looking at London’s crisp white packet filled with lots of black little letters and numbers filling up the page. “Yep, now I suggest you girls get started because you only have the next 45 minutes to finish.” Mr. Vern replied, handing Pearl an identical copy. They both sighed deeply and got to work. By the time the bell rang, and London left class London could smell the fragrance of pencil led and shaving and could almost feel the rubbery feel of bits of eraser. Once she got to the lunchroom London searched for her friends, she saw them but noticed how they were sitting fairly close to Kestrel! Oh crap! She muttered to herself, as she was walking over to her friend Pansy and Pearl. “OMG! You have to show me where he is!” Pansy squealed as her friend climbed up the wooden and concrete bleachers up to them. “Who?” London said slyly. “Oh my god, stop faking! You know who!” Pansy pouted, crossing her arms over her chest. “Who are you talking about?” Pearl asked London, looking up from her phone. Pansy raised her eyebrows at London, her face sculpting a smirk on her face. “Ke-” Pansy nearly shouted, but before she could finish her sentence London slapped her hand over Pansy’s mouth. “Croissants.” London chuckled nervously. “We were talking about croissants.” London counited, leaning back in forth, her hands squeezed into a tight ball. “Ok,” Pearl replied, in a confused tone. Once the inside half of break was over, Rabi and London started walking out to the field. “Oh my god, look over there!” Rabi squealed, shoving her friend in the direction she was pointing at. London clutched onto one of her backpack straps then looked up. It was Kestrel, he had a torn football in his hands, his dark brown gaze fixed on her. London walked more near Rabi, blushing as she looked down at the ground. “We need to talk to him!” Rabi sighed, still trying to push London more near Kestrel. If you have ever been put in this situation you know how hard it is to walk and not move sideways while your friend is pushing you. Yep. That’s what was happening. “He’s looking at us.” Rabi whispered loudly. “Well, duh! When you make a whole scene in front of people that’s what their going to do.” London replied sarcastically, elbowing her in the shoulder. “No, I mean he is literally dreamily gazing at you!” Rabi exclaimed, sounding very happy. Even though London didn’t look up, she could still feel his gaze on her as she went to see Nova, feeling just a little more confident. I know its cringey!
