Okay! Hello Guys, Gals, NB pals and Beings from the void! I’m really tired of Mary / Gary sue cliches bc they’re not only OP, unfun to rp with, and basic. So here’s some annoying cliches I see a lot, tips on making personalities, and how to fix them! 1 : “Kittypet to Warrior.” I can literally only blame Firestar for this. It was in the first book, but now it’s all over the place. This doesn’t mean your character is bad, I myself have one or two, but it’s getting overused. 2 : “Dead Parent Sweetheart.” Dead parents normally can’t be helped if you are in a litter, as you didn’t intend that to happen. If you are making a stand-alone character though, plenty times I see “mother / father / parent died at x age” and I get it sort of. Trying to get parents for your character is tedious and tiring. But once all your character does is whine and be all like, “my parents are dead pity me.” It gets boring to play. When my characters start dipping that low, that’s when I kill them off (if I’ve had them for a long time.) Here’s an example: Cat A (these are made up) Crownedblaze and cat B (DPS) Roseshard are sitting outside camp. CB: Good morning Roseshard! What lovely weather we are having! RS: Yeah. CB: What’s wrong? RS: Just reminds me of my dead parents. CB: Oh no! I’m sorry. It must be hard- want to go hunting? RS: Well you wouldn’t know, you have parents. This is a mistake. You would have a few chains of maybe grief but when every single conversation is a pity party, nobody will want to talk / rp with you. 3 : “Mary Sue Medicine Cat” Self explanatory. Too often do I see a cat want to be a medicine cat apprentice, only wanting it because it’s “quirky / different”. If I am a medicine cat and you want to be my apprentice, that’s why I will ask you some questions /first./ 4 : “The Hated Child.” I have a lot to say on this okay? My old MIS character, Waspstrike was talking to one of her friends about having another litter of kits. It was wholesome and pretty nice. A key detail here is she used to despise kits, and hurt them, but by here she had grown out of this. So for this example; OP = Other Person and EL = Elliot EL: *rp response* OP: Hey could I play one of Waspstrike’s kits?// EL: Ooh ofc! Any ideas lol? // OP: Could I have a character called Burningkit
