We all have heard/watched/read Disney fairy tales, haven't we? I assume you have. This poem is a portrayal of a Disney princess's mental health. When she says, See. See my.....{continued} She asks the reader, to see what she is, not what they want to see. not what others want them to see. When we read/hear/watch 'em we se what they want to see. we don't explore why and what the princess is feeling. why she needs the prince. Doesn't she wants to be normal like others? Why can't she fight against the stepmothers? Why are all these princesses beautiful? for not every girl is deemed to be pretty in terms of physical beauty. Why are all the villains ugly? They (the princesses) always had a choice. but they never ever reacted. The girls here, in the fairy tales, written by Grimm Brothers and Disney, both, portrayed girls as porcelain dolls. they portrayed girls how they wanted 'em to be. It was sexism and very chauvinistic. You may see how the villains were always ugly. so that means girls who are not physically pretty are corrupt of heart? they are so jealous they will go to any extent to become beautiful? I'd like to hear your opinions as well, it helps me correct myself and write more.
