I wrote these for SWC word wars, and they were cool. So I'm sharing them here. (see below) 1. The cat races across the floor, running from the mouse. The cat thought the mouse was going to be dinner, but that was before the mouse showed the cat what it could really do. Now the cat will be lucky to escape the four foot high mouse. The mouse uses his powers to shrink himself down to a quarter of an inch so that the cat cannot see him. When the mouse is in this form, he is extra fast and is able to trap the cat in a corner. The cat mews nervously. The mouse is merciless. But just as the mouse is about to swipe his poison claws against the cat’s face, he realizes there is a better way to convince the cat to leave here, never to return. The mouse looks into the cat’s eyes and sees pure terror. The mouse steps back and lets the cat run off – unharmed, but shaken. 2. She wondered what he was doing here. His kind were rarely heard of, and they weren’t allowed in the town. “Can I help you?” She asked cautiously. “Oh, I’m just looking for a place to stay while doing some business.” He answered in a language she had learned recently. She switched to his tongue. “What business do you have here? You’re not supposed to be in our town.” “Ah, but see, that’s why I’m here. I’m trying to change that rule so my kind can live freely. It’s not an easy life, you know.” “Actually, I don’t know. You have your cities, and we have ours. Anything you need to do can be done in your hometown, or sent by a messenger. Now please, won’t you go back home? There are people waiting.” He glanced behind him, as if realizing for the first time that he wasn’t alone in the line. “I’m sorry. I just thought that maybe you would want to know how to stop the plague.” He started walking away. 3. What in the world is that? I wonder as the creature drops in front of me. It looks like something straight out of a video game. It is a gigantic robotic lizard with a scorpion tail. Neon green, with yellow LED eyes. I can only hope that I am not its target as it sniffs around the bushes. Whatever it is looking for, when it finds it, it will likely be obliterated. All the more reason for me to escape as quickly and quietly as I can. Only, I don’t see any way out. I’m behind a bush, which is in a circle of bushes, which is surrounded by plains. If I move, the lizard will see me instantly. If I don’t, It will find me anyway. But what if I distract it? If I could throw something opposite the circle from me, it may divert the lizard’s attention. I slowly, very slowly, snap off a twig from the bush I’m behind. The lizard doesn’t notice. I throw it through the air– only the robot sees where it came from.
