[ I’m going to explain my painting process! ] Okay! I am painting a piece I call “Holding Up the Sun” featuring my char, Dusk, I recently bought at Art-Mart. ——— 1. First, the sketch. I use shapes to help me, especially circles. 2. Solid coloring! Not doing the line art yet. Keep in mind I put the char and sun on different layers so I can edit them later without effecting the other one. 3. I now put the lineart on top of Dusk’s base color. I basically put the sketch on top of Dusk’s layer and turned down the opacity so I could see it. I also put the liner art on a different layer. 4. Shading and lighting on Dusk’s base color! I made it light closer to the Sun and darker farther away from the Sun. I used her normal base color to blend it. Pro Tip: Instead making a straight line to blend, make a bunch of dots. It turns out better :) 5. Markings, flat colors. Also on different layer. 6. I blended the marking into the fur, and did the lighting and shading on the markings as well. The markings and base color are now on the same layer. Dusk is finished! 7. Now to the sun! I mix oranges, reds, and yellows into the Sun’s base color, and added a glow behind it. I know put it with Dusk, and blend it into the glow a bit better. (The markings are not blended into Dusk yet bc I forgot and did it later lol). 8. The background is pretty easy. I am doing a sky, so the base color I’m using is blue. I KNOW THE SUN IS IN SPACE SUE ME- 9. I make it lighter around the Sun, and make it darker around the edges. Then I blend. 10. Now I put them together! Looks pretty good. Not done yet though. 11. I copy the background, put it over Dusk and the Sun, and turn down the opacity (to 28% if your curious). This gives it a softer color. 12. I put pink over it lol. This is the finished piece! We made it woooo
