Smokesong was organizing the herbs in the Wolfclan medicine den. Things haven't been the same since Starclan gave him a prophecy. "I should tell Silverstar." he told himself. He breathed out a heavy sigh. He forced himself to his paws and walk to his leaders den. -I should see my brother--NO! Silverstar first, Shadehawk second.- Ever since he became the medicine cat, it seems like his has been torn apart from seeing his brother. Whenever he's free, he's either with some she-cat, hunting, or training his apprentice. Smokesong approached the entrance of his den. He breathed the smell of the forest. He cleared the camp for Silverstar but only saw her mate, Loosefoot, with their new kits, Birdkit and Coldkit. He forced himself to walk to the leaders den and tell her. "Smokesong?" meowed a voice. Smokesong jumped and turned around to see who it was.. "Eelfire! Sorry. You startled me. What do you need?" He laughed a little that he was startled. "I don't need anything. I just wanted to say thank you for treating me. Now, it's just s scar." Eelfire was talking about the wound he got when he and Skyrunner got their warrior names. When they were sitting in vigil, they were attacked by something. "It's my duty as a medicine cat to treat any injured cats. No need to say thank you. I'm glad Shyrunner has recovered and now returning tomorrrow." Eelfire nodded then turned away from him. Smokesong continued on his path to Silverstar. He thought about Shyrunner and if he was okay. He was a daylight warrior so he didn't stay with them at sun down. "Smokesong!" yelled a voice. He jumped again. -Why do these cats keep on creeping up on me?!- He growled at the cat behind him. "What?! Oh." He made a nervous chuckle. "H-hi Skullheart." The large tom stood proud and tall. He must be organizing the patrols while Silverstar is in her den. "What do you want, Skulheart?" he asked, trying to sound nicer. "Hmm. Well, would you mind if you tell me what's going on? You can't keep secrets from the deputy. You've been staying in your den for the past sun rises and barely talked to anyone, besides your patients." Smokesong shook his head. In return, the deputy nodded in his response. "I understand. I know it's hard doing this alone without her." He was talking about Gorsefoot, the past medicine cat. -She always cared about me. She was the best mentor I've ever gotten.- He felt a sudden feeling of emptiness. When he opened back up his eyes, Skullheart was gone. -Finally.- He walked to the leader den again, and this time, he wasn't stopped. "Silverstar?" He poked his head into the dark hole. "Smokesong? Come in!" she responded. Her soft voice always brightened up his day. He entered the den and sat next to her moss bed. "I have received a prophecy from Starclan. I have yet to figure it out. That's why I have not been talking to anyone." Her eyes widened. "Tell me." she ordered. Smokesong cleared his throat then began talking. "Two kits from each Clan. They'll succeed. They will fight till the end. Beware the brown shark. Beware the broken heart. For they will get what they deserve." Silverstar's ears flattened and her eyes widened more. "That...sounds dreadful. Gorsefoot had many prophecies but it had nothing like this. The prophecies that they received dealt with problems that were easy to fulfill. Hardpaw!!" A second later, Hardpaw, the other daughter of Silverstar, showed herself in Silverstar's den. "You called?" she asked. "Yes, Hardpaw. I want you to fetch me your father and Skullheart." Hardpaw nodded her head then she ran away from the den. "Thank you, darling. We'll figure this out. No need to worry. You may leave." Smokesong bowed his head in respect then left the den. Shadehawk was waiting for him. "Hello, brother. How's life as a medicine cat." Smokesong pinned his ears at him then walked towards him but pushed him away. "What did I do to deserve this?! It is because that I never hang out with you anymore? I have excellent news!" Smokesong turned his head. "Why should I care that you have news? Theres clearly more important things that have to be done. I can send you on a patrol to get me more herbs just for me to be alone!" He continued his way to the medicine den. Shadehawk followed. Shadehawk watched as his brother laid in his bed. He sighed. "Can I at least tell you the news I've brought?" Smokesong turned his gaze to his brother. "As long as you leave me alone afterward." His brother nodded his head, and sighed. "Me and Springwillow are now mates." Smokesong perked his ears up. "That's amazing! I'm happy for you. Wish I could have a mate and kits of my own." Shadehawk left the den. -Great. Now he's making me feel guilty. That's his specialty.-
