"Six years, six new experiences." --- Windows 9 CE Development Preview ⓘ As of 15.11.2022, Windows 9 CE has been cancelled due to personal difficulties and pressures. This development snapshot from 28th November 2021 shows then-current progress. ⚠ Warning: this can freeze your browser while loading! ⓘ cs266377 recommends Edge Chromium for 9UE - the base of 9CE. Welcome to Microsoft Windows 9 Commemorative Edition. Based on Windows 9 Ultimate Edition, this remix was originally scheduled for a March 2022 release. Issues and pressures outside Scratch forced me to push it back constantly until a final cancellation on 15th November 2022, the date development began the previous year. The goal of the project was to develop a new remix that would both celebrate the anniversary - hence the name - whilst introducing useful changes and improvements compared to my previous (unsuccessful) attempts at making my own OS projects. There are many changes; here are some differences from UE: - Random counter that caused in the backdrops removed. This counter caused a 0.002% chance of crash at startup. - Timers on startup and on application opening shortened. - New gold system theme. -- New boot screen style. -- New taskbar/start style. -- New minimise/maximise window controls. -- New Sans Serif system font. - IE13 renamed to Edge Preview. - Redesigned WinGen, and other applications. -- Random selections changed to try preventing it from working as a real Windows NT key. -- Disclaimer added to the WinGen application. - New system sound scheme. -- Sound scheme is made up of Windows 8 sounds and the Windows N startup sound with extra echo/reverb. -- "Windows XP RIP Ears" replaced with the original version. -- Dialog and Complete were later replaced with higher quality versions from the actual build 10074. - Scripts now stop after shutdown event. This isn't finished! -- Please note that the following OSes made by me (or cs) have been discontinued.
