Stormclaw, Branchtwig and Mosstail came out of the bushes. But then she see and smell a unfamiliar scent and cat. "Branchtwig..... who is this cat?'' Branchtwig replied, carrying the kit. "It's a she-kit, and we found her in the snow." Brightstar looked at the kit. It was very small, and it had no scent of any clan. Suddenly, Icewing, Brightstar's sister, came out of the nursery. "Bri-'' Then Icewing looked softly at the dark grey kit. "Can we keep her?'' Icewing asked. "Hawkkit and Snowkit really want another kit in the nursery," "Okay," Brightstar replied, heading for the Highrock. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the Highrock for a clan meeting!'' She looked down at the cats. "Today, the dawn patrol found a kit in the woods. And as you know, we lost two brave warriors, Rainstorm and Leafwind, in leaf-bare. We need more warriors," The cats began to stare at the kit. "And- " "We should keep the kit." said a voice in the crowd of cats. It was Mosstail, the warrior from the dawn patrol. "But what if the kit's parents come back, will you give the kit back?'' croaked an elder. Brightstar looked at Icewing. "Yes.... if its parents come back....... but for now, Icewing will be its mother, for now. Meeting dismissed." Brightstar headed for her den, while Icewing brought the kit in the nursery. Icewing's two kits, Hawkkit and Snowkit were play-fighting. Then Hawkkit saw Icewing and the kit she was holding. 'Hi mom,'' he said. "Did you bring another kit for us to play with?'' Icewing plopped the kit on a nest. Then she licked her son's head. "It's about time you two go to bed," Icewing said. Her two kits slept beside her, while she licked the dark grey kit. (What should I name you? Nightkit? No, Streamkit? no..... Mistkit? Yes, Mistkit will be her name. thought Icewing.
