short but yknow I recently learned that you can also just add a new layer to your art, color the whole canvas with a particular color .Then you select a blending mode in the layers and opacity section. You want the art to give off a particular mood. but having a color palette is honestly more fun and gives you a general idea of what the color's of your project are anyway have a good day!
