The sensation of wearing the Sorting Hat wasn't anything Poppy had felt before. Sure, she had tried on extremely large hats (this one blocked out half her face, blocking out most of the light), but none of it like this. The situation was surreal enough (even for someone who had grown up around magic like her), and it got even worse when the hat started speaking. ʟᴏᴠᴇʟʏ. ᴀɴᴏᴛʜᴇʀ ʀᴇɴsʜɪʀᴇ. ɪ ᴛʜᴏᴜɢʜᴛ ᴊᴜʟɪᴜs ᴡᴀs ᴛʜᴇ ʟᴀsᴛ ᴏɴᴇ ғᴏʀ ᴀ ʟᴏɴɢ ᴛɪᴍᴇ- ʏᴏᴜʀ ғᴀᴍɪʟʏ ʜᴀs ʙᴇᴇɴ ᴏɴᴇ ᴏғ ᴛʜᴇ ʜᴀʀᴅᴇsᴛ ᴛᴏ sᴏʀᴛ, ɪɴ ᴍʏ ᴏᴘɪɴɪᴏɴ ᴀᴛ ʟᴇᴀsᴛ. Oh. That was new. Seeing as Mr.Renshire loved to brag about his potential work promotions almost everday, Poppy found it odd that no-one had ever mentioned this before. ɪᴛ ɪsɴ'ᴛ ᴀ ɢᴏᴏᴅ ᴛʜɪɴɢ, ᴀ ʜᴀᴛsᴛᴀʟʟ. ɴᴏᴛ ᴛʜᴀᴛ ʏᴏᴜʀ ʙʀᴏᴛʜᴇʀs ʜᴀᴅ ᴏɴᴇ- ɴᴏ, ɪ ᴛʜɪɴᴋ ɪᴛ ᴡᴀs ʏᴏᴜʀ ғᴀᴛʜᴇʀ ᴛᴏ ʟᴀsᴛ ʜᴀᴠᴇ ɪᴛ. "Well why isn't it a good thing?" Poppy asked. (Well, not out loud, although she wanted to. Talking to a hat was unnerving.) ᴅᴏ ʏᴏᴜ ʀᴇᴀʟʟʏ ᴡᴀɴᴛ ᴛᴏ ᴋɴᴏᴡ? No, I guess not... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The next several minutes passed in a small question and answering game- all the while Poppy slowly became more and more exhausted. Couldn't the hat put her in a stupid house already? And then on cue, Poppy heard perhaps the worst house ever be yelled out onto the onlooking crowd. "HUFFLEPUFF!" And when it finally did, all Poppy got was a few claps, and a curious expression on Dumbledore's face. How was one supposed to be destined for greatness, when they were put in Hufflepuff? Hufflepuffs were a load of fools, everyone knew that. Well... they were, right?
