Chapter 1 "And who can tell me about the War of Sandwing Succession?" The claw of Robin, a red Skywing, is shot into the air. "Yes, Robin." "500 years ago, a Nightwing, a Seawing, a Mudwing, a Rainwing, and a Sandwing ended the War of Sandwing Succession, a war over the Sandwing throne. It was fought between Burn, Blister, and Blaze. Burn was killed by a dragonbite viper, Blister was killed by The Eye of Onyx, and Blaze lived until she was 120." "Correct." "Now, who can tell me about the dragons who ended the war?" I actually know this, so I raise my claw. "Yes, Chasm?" "The group of dragonets were called the Dragonets of Destiny, and they founded this school." "Correct. And Chasm can you name them?" I bit my lip. "The Seawing was Tsunami, and the Nightwing was Starflight, right? I uh.. can't name the rest. Oh, wait, the Rainwing was Glory, she was queen of the Rainwings." I hear some snickering, and a few mutterings of 'not shocked she couldn't answer' My teacher, Ms. Particle, glared at the voices then smiled at me. "Correct." Ms. Particle starts to say something else, but the gong sounds. Everyone packs up and head out the cave door. A few bump into me. I glare at them. By now, I know full well they did it on purpose. "Hey, Trenchwing!" I hear a voice call. I turn to the voice. "What do you want?" The voice, which belongs to Anaconda, a Rainwing, smirks at me" "Not surprised you couldn't answer. Your species hasn't been around that long." I redden. "You weren't alive back then. In fact, if I remember correctly, back then your tribe lazed around eating fruit all day. Not many of you even knew how to read." Anaconda snarls. "Watch it Trenchwing." then she stalks off. I start walking to my dorm. Then I change my mind and head to the underwater lake. I never actually go the underwater lake, at least not the main one. I go to a small lake, that's colder and darker. But in order to get there, I have to go to the underground lake. Its usually swarming with Seawings, and sometimes there's a few Leafwings or Silkwings. Before I can get there I bump into Topaz, a young Hivewing, who loves everyone. "Hi Chasm!" she has a knack of remembering dragons, and she always says hi to people. "Hi Topaz." She squinted at my wings. "Is it just me, or do you have more light blue spots than usual?" I laugh, "I don't think so," Topaz lips start moving soundlessly, and I stay still, letting her count. After a few minutes she proclaimed, "I don't think there are any more than usual!" I grin, "Is that a good thing or a bad thing?" Topaz shrugged. "I dunno. Hey, I'm going to the Prey Center, wanna come with?" I shake my head. There's always too many dragons there that will make fun of me because I'm a Trenchwing. I usually go late in the day, like the 13 other Trenchwings here. We used to talk together, and stick together, but we've learned the hard way that being a loner is better here. "Alright! Well, bye!" Topaz scampered off. I watch her head away, then I start to head to the lake. Who knows? Maybe I'll find another Trenchwing there.
Tui T Sutherland for writing Wings of Fire! Sorry this chapter is kinda boring! I'm just getting it set up rn! I know you don't know a lot about Trenchwings, I'll add their history into the next chapter, but my general idea of what they look like is basically, they have darker colors than Seawings, but basically the same colors, they might have some dark brown mixed in. They have some small lightly colored scales. That's all I really know right now, but I'll work on it! If you want a character fill out this form: Name/ Tribe/ Age/ pronouns/ job(student, teacher, parent, queen, etc.)/ looks/ jewelry (if any)/ other
