Aa I love writing sob- time to enter >:DD Bio: Name: Eloi ( pronounced: EL-oy ) Pronouns: Xe/Xem/she/her Sexuality: aromatic Age: (in human terms) nine Species: anthropomorphic squirrel Backstory: As Christmas neared,, Eloi gathered with xer family around the warm,, inviting fire that flickered gently in the fireplace. Eloi squeezed her backpack in her paws, the trinkets that she had collected clinking inside. Her parents smiled warmly down at her, the light of the fire gleaming in the corners of their eyes’. A single spark rose from the fire and floated out towards the rug. Suddenly, fire burst from the corner of the rug. Eloi shrieked and scrambled towards her mother. “Put it out, put it out !!” She wailed, shaking her fathers arm. Her father stared at the fire for a moment, panic pulsing from his pelt. He snapped out of it, turning to Eloi and her mother who were struggling to open the window. Flames flared in his eyes. He waved his fluffy tail and raced after Eloi and her mother. “GO, GO, GO!!” He yowled, pushing Eloi the rest of the way through the window. (Time skip) Eloi pushed through the snow covered ferns as she scurried along the forest trail. She blinked away tears as she thought of the branch that weakened from the fire and crushed her parents. She ran faster until she burst into a clearing filled with small plants and flowers that poked through the snow. She fell before them,, sobbing so hard her vision blurred, she crawled toward them and buried xer face in the small sprouts. Suddenly, a small man appeared from behind the bushes. He was small and round and he reeked of fish. Eloi inched backwards into the ferns, her paws clutched tightly around her bag. The man bent his head and fixed his gaze upon Eloi. “Why hello there !!” He said in a jolly voice. “Poor dear, you must be frozen to death here !!” He scooped up Eloi, who squeaked indignantly, her paws flailing helplessly. The man brought her back to his house, where a small fire blazed the fire pit. Eloi shrieked and her eyes shot back to the past, the smell of panic, the yowl of pain, and the fire that burned her home to coal. She broke free and dashed for an open window, but the man grabbed her before she reached it. “Now, now. You’re safe now.” “I’ve made the sweater, dear !!” The old woman called from upstairs. By now, Eloi was used to her surroundings and had grown accustomed to the ways of the man and woman. “You can come out and help me sell fish, now dear.” The old man said. As Eloi bounded after the old man, she gazed over the small, snow covered town, and sighed. She loved he old man and his wife, but missed her parents even more. As the man neared his shop, he bent down to pick up Eloi and lifted him onto her shoulder. They dragged fish into the boxes and hung up the pricing signs. “Oh hey !!” Said the man, digging for something in his pocket. “Here !! I made this wooden fish for you for your first day in the job.” He said, handing her a small blue wooden, hand carved fish bracelet. As he tied it on her arm, Eloi looked up at him, finally accepting her fate. That Christmas, Eloi, the small man, and his wife huddled around the tree, a few small presents left under it. As Eloi reached out her paws to take the gift from the man’s wife and began to unwrap it. Just then, a knocking on the window made Eloi looked up. What she saw made tears stream from her eyes, she ran from her spot in the soft, warm, rug, and raced to the window, where there, were her parents staring from outside, smiling warmly at her as they had so long ago. Epilogue: So uh they got back together and they loved happily ever after lmao Anyway,, hopefully you enjoyed this story that I worked on for an hour :’D
