this has happened enought times that i'm just gonna post a project about this. every time I get a remix notification for my Jenny meme template, i assume the worst. "oh great, it's another stupid kid recoloring my art" "oh great, it's someone tracing my art and claiming it as theirs" every time I see that notification, I die inside. I feel like 80% of the remixes on that project have no effort put into them. They're just traces, recolors, etc. The point of remixing is to add your own spin to the original project. This could be adding code, adding your OWN art, changing the song, whatever. When you recolor MY art and/or trace it, it's not really adding your own spin. it's more like, say, taking my work, destroying it, and saying some really bad words to me. or making a mean gesture. something offensive, or rude. let me put it this way. you've just finished making a 1000-piece lego building. it took you a total of 3 days of blood, sweat, tears, and destroyed fingers. right after you finish it, your younger sibling comes in, takes it right out of your hands, and smashes it on the ground. then they take all the pieces to their room and dump them in a pile, and tell your mom about how wonderful their creation is. despite the horrible example, that's basically art theft. it's annoying. it's discouraging. it makes you never want to build that lego set, or any more lego sets, in fear that your sibling is going to ruin your hard work over and over. I get that the "art" in my meme template was a low-effort placeholder, but it still hurts. and i'm not the only one going through this. there's tons of artists out there- begginers and advanced- having their art traced, recolored, and heavily referenced off of. it's not cool. now, kids these days think "oh, if I steal this amazing art, people that see it will think it's mine and everyone will love me!! I'm gonna be famous!" look. these people spent years practicing and putting their all into improving their art. maybe they did it for clout, money, or just to achieve something. I don't know. but all I know is that they put a ton of effort into it, and you're just taking all their hard work and calling it yours just so you can get some undeserved attention. this rant is very unlikely to stop someone from stealing art, but I'd just like everyone who sees this to know how frusterated I am (as well as other artists out there). go touch some grass please thx :)
tl;dr - (some) kids are kinda stupid
