Heroes Of The Hunt By: Ashley Yeh Edited By: Ace Lim Chapter One LUNA SILVER I was born from an arrow. Yes, I’m actually born from an arrow. You see, my mom is Artemis, the Greek goddess of the hunting, the moon, young girls, unmarried women, and newborn children. If you’re a Greek mythology nerd, you might notice that Artemis is a maiden goddess. She doesn’t go around marrying people. And I technically didn’t come from her body… and she technically didn’t marry to have me. Now, you may have heard how Athena and Hephaestus had a child out of a handkerchief. That story is real. Hephaestus’s snot(shh) on Athena’s handkerchief created a child. The same thing happened to me. Some unlucky person dared to shoot Artemis with an arrow, and, not only did it not harm her, she picked it right up and shot that unlucky person(A half-blood named Zion Johnson, son of Ares) right in the heart. And from that arrow, I was born. Disgusting, I know. Compare it to Athena and Hephaestus’s snot child. Suddenly, it doesn’t seem so bad, does it? So, Artemis picked me right up and raised me in the Hunt. Unlike most half-bloods, I can summon a second moon for about ten minutes(meaning I can summon the rock to hit enemies in the face), am an extremely good archer, can summon moonwater at will, and tend to be very comforting to young girls. That’s expected, I guess. I’m the daughter of a goddess and a half-blood. I guess that makes me a bit more powerful than others. Anyway, today I was out hunting with my three best friends Katherine, Amanda, and Thalia, and we were finding lots of monsters. Three manticores, twenty blemmyae, and two Earthborn. We were just about to go back to the camp, as Artemis had instructed, but I heard a whisper on the west side of the forest. Apparently, so had Thalia. Maybe it was that Thalia was Artemis’s lieutenant and I was her daughter, but Katherine and Amanda didn’t hear the whisper. We decided to split up. Katherine and Amanda went back to the camp to tell Artemis, and Thalia and I stayed put to wait for them. Soon, Artemis appeared to us, with Katherine and Amanda at her sides. “Katherine and Amanda have told me of the whispers you hear. You have permission to go see whatever is making the noise, but come back before the moon is up. And Luna, absolutely do not make the moon stay down. I had the moon chariot smashed the last time you tried that.” Artemis said before teleporting back by herself. “I have a bad feeling about this,” I muttered as I stared into the endless forest.
