How much money? This tells the amount of money the cat would have if each day he doubled his money and got to keep all the money he had gotten the day before. He started with $1 before the began collecting money. So on day 1$1 and get the amount he had the day before, so he would have $3 on day one. On day 2, he would double the $3 and get $6 plus the $3 he had the day before, so he would have 9 dollars on day 2. On day 3, he would double the 9 dollars and get $19 dollars plus the $9 he had the day before. And so on.
