I just finished this book Sixth Extinction by Elizabeth Kolbert, and it was so amazing, I just had to recommend it to you scratchers! Diving deep into the past, Kolbert uncovers past extinctions and how extinction was first discovered by humans. She travels the globe and shares her discoveries of species currently being affected by climate change, and just how much of an impact this could have on these species and the environment. Weaving an intricate web, she connects every chapter in this book back to us, humans. Humans have been the cause of extinctions hundreds of thousands of years before we realized what impact we were having on our planet. And by harming these species, we are dooming ourselves. Today, many organizations fight to save endangered species, and some think human ingenuity can save us all. But, the present is what matters most, because if we don’t stop it, the Sixth Extinction will be our legacy. This is an amazing book for science and climate change lovers, who like a complicated and challenging read! This book is written for adults, however, so it does use curse words and some inappropriate references. Keep that in mind if you decide to read this book.
