Chapter One I was running. It was a snowy day, so the gravitational pull was lessened. I knew, I knew I really shouldn’t stop for anything. But the kids. The kids that I knew would be like me. The ones in chains. It didn’t matter what their names were, they would be killed all the same. The ones who’s hair was as gray as rocks, the ones who had gems on the end of their hair. The ones who’s hair was clumped like vines. The ones with hair that was so long, because it couldn’t be cut. Hair that flickered like flames. Hair that had been shaved off to try to save themselves. Red streaks like me. The ones who would die if I didn’t do something. So I stopped. I stoped just long enough to unlock the chains of a little girl with two pink braids ending in gemstones. I picked the lock on her chains, and told her to save as many as she could before getting away. I wasn’t sure what all their specialities were, but I knew the ones with red streaks in their hair were like me. Strong, being able to lift way more then the Ib Txwm, or fast, being able to run faster then a Ib Txwm. Ib Txwm, or normal people hated the Khawv Koob. Most people are Ib Txwm. Only about 1% of the population were Khawv Koob. Khawv Koob is the right term for magic people, but most Ib Txwm call us the Qhov av. Qhov av means dirt. I snapped out of my trance as I rounded the corner and saw the fountain… except the water had the fainted pattern of the gemstone of the girl I released. I was already in a jump though. I couldn’t stop, I was going to land in the strange water. I might’ve been able to grab onto something, but I couldn’t reach. I could still hear the guards footsteps, although they were pretty far behind me. I took a deep breath, closed my eyes, and braced for the chill of the water.
