“Nobody knew how death could bring colour to a person’s life.” -monochrome - Chapt.1 •White• It was another day, in a black and white world. I know what white, grey, and black look like. But no other colours. Never seen them, and honestly, I doubt I ever will. You see, in this world, this universe, you can only see colours if you've met somebody special. Your soulmate. I yawned, pressing the toaster down- making breakfast for me, my little sister and my elder brother, then glanced over my shoulder as I began to coffee for myself. "Lance, can you describe to me what brown looks like again?" Lance was my older brother. He has brown hair, like the rest of us. Or so he and ma says. I don't know what brown is. Or looks like, really. I've not found somebody I love yet; but he has. It's sorta unfair, really. I'm already 16, and he's 21. I should be able to name the colours of the rainbow, too. People joke around with me, saying that I'll never find somebody I love- or somebody who loves me. It hurts, if I'm honest. In the films you see two people cuddling each other on the sofa, watching a movie, sharing a blanket. I've never done that. Well, with a human anyway. I've done it lots of times with our dog, Felipe. Until he died, and now I have nobody to warm me up on cold winter days. Lance sighed, and proceeded to repeat what he said every morning. "So, you know trees, the ones that grow out of the earth. They are brown. They have different shades, and types of brown, like grey. Brown is the colour of the earth. It's natural." I closed my eyes, smiling "Coffee is brown, chocolate is brown, chestnuts are brown-" "Poop is brown!" My little sister butted in, giggling with the heart only a child could laugh with. Her name was Sam. She was only six, with chubby cheeks and round, joyful eyes. Pop! The toaster told me it was ready. Well, one side. Our toaster's very rubbish and is fussy over which side it wants to toast. This time it was the left. I took the bread pieces out, flipped them over and pressed down on the button. I grinned, a real grin. Rare to see those during the testing period of high school. My dad walked in with a paper in his hands, and his glasses on his head. "So, Kai , what day is it?" "Saturday, the x of x" (a/n I haven’t decided yet please don’t kill me) "Hmm, I thought it was a Son-day" I winced at his cheesy dad joke, my sister laughed -does she ever stop?- and my brother sighed. I'm genderfluid- and out to my parents, and they're supportive as hell, but it's chaotic with the Dad Jokes (tm) and Mom Jokes (tm) "It's an Enby day for me- they/them are preferred-" And them my ma walked in, and gave dad a hug from the back. "Gooood morning problem children!" Readers, as you can see my mother dearest is an unholy extrovert with some strange experiences. She got invited to a stranger’s wedding. “‘Morning ma!” Lance, Sam and i replied in unison. I stirred my coffee, and sipped at it, while looking at today’s shopping list. •Eggs •milk •Bread •fruit shoots •Fruit •doughnuts •chips •black fluffy blanket “Okay, family, i’ll leave this here for another couple of days because there’s not that many things. Also, you don’t need these urgently- so if you have any additions write it down.” I popped the toast out, and put it on plates. “Lance, what do you want on yours-?” “Butter, and jam please” “Alright... Sam?” “Same as big brother L!” The whole room went quiet, basking in the cuteness of a small girl with chubby cheeks, round eyes, round face, and in pj’s go all admirable at Lance. Lance, however, was patting her on the head and looking at everybody with pride. -cut- This is moved from a writing website to scratch because I’ve got more friends here than there and I wanna see if people like it B) Also if I need to change anything let me know :D I would also love feedback <3
Okay I am over the moon with the amount of people that have read and replied to this aaaaa :DDDDD <333 The plot is from inspo on pin Thank you to my friend who checked it for me I am grateful :) I just realised the italics and bold haven’t transferred over. I’m going to do a key thing where hold is in some kind of symbol, and so is italics, and underlined :)
