Luna, Sol, Stella and Dusty walked all day. As they did, Luna explained everything to Sol and Dusty. They were in another pack’s territory, so they needed to be careful. “Luna…” Sol started. “May I ask what happened to your Mum?” “I guess it’s time to tell you. My Mum…well, she died when I was six. Eight years ago. She was out hunting and,” Luna’s eyes were watery, as if they had crystals melting above her eyelashes. “A bear attacked. I was with her, and she died for me. She was the one who cared and loved me. Who would teach me battle skills and anything I needed to know. Mum told me to run, find dad and get out of there quick. I ran, thinking she would return with only scratch. But I never saw her again.” “I’m…so sorry. My mum died too. She actually just died a week ago. But, I wasn’t allowed to see her anyway so I don’t really miss her. Dad said she was crazy.” Sol stopped talking he was staring at something. “Uh guys…I think we have company….” Luna let out a warning growl. “Ha. We’re not scared of a wolf like you.” The voice was muffled, and then three black bears arose from the mist. Luna screamed. “Please! Leave us alone!” She pleaded. The bears immediately retreated. “Oh…I forgot about that.” Luna said. “Can we stay at your place?” Misty asked, earning herself a glare from Luna. “What? We need a place to stay!” The blue-ish wolf mouthed back. “Yes sure! We weren’t going to eat you anyway. We don’t kill wolves for the sake of it !” The bears roared. “Thanks!” * * * The feast was enormous, fish lined the table and mice were served neatly beside the plates. Rabbits, deer, elk, sheep and even pigs were up for grabs. It was everything Luna could have imagined. Berries and bones were ready to serve for dessert. “Please help yourselves,” said a bear as he scooped up his meal in his mighty paw. “Thank you!” Sol said as he served himself a portion of everything on the table. Luna’s tummy growled and rumbled and for the first time that week, she let herself relax. “Thanks bears…we really needed this.” “Ah. That’s fine. Come whenever you like! If you can, bring us treasure every now and then will you? We collect it.” “Yes, we will.” Luna realized that there was a chance that they had the Sun necklace. “Uh, may we look at your treasure?” Misty asked, probably thinking the same thing. “Of course, just don’t touch anythig, ok?” The bears led them to a ginormous room, full of jewels and gold. “Wow…this is a LOT of gold. Do you know how much you could buy with this?” “Yes. But we like to keep it and give it to those who need it.” Said one bear, filling up a couple of sacks with a portion of the treasure. “Here you go. Take this.” “Oh, seriously? Thanks!! We better get going now though we are on a…long journey.” “Oh well then, visit us soon!” “Goodbye!” When they left, they realized…that Misty was gone.
