i’ve seen some brilliant people (particularly @besaved) do versions of this, so i thought that i would contribute! but… this time, it’s a controversial edition!
1. jesus lived his life among, and actively engaged with, sinners. we, as christians, should put aside our pride and judgement and do the same. 2. engaging in closed jewish customs as a christian is antisemetic. gentiles are not expected or encouraged to practice. you do not get to celebrate passover as a christian just because “well, jesus did”. jesus was jewish. 3. being lgbtq+ is not a sin, and nothing in the bible supports this kind of thinking. to be bigoted is to actively go against everything that the bible stands for. 4. trying to convert someone to your denomination of christianity because you believe it to be more ‘correct’ than theirs is wrong. this goes also for scorning the practices of other people’s denominations (e.g. praying to saints). 5. if you don’t understand the history of the troubles and european catholic-protestant divide, and how the ramifications are still felt today, it is not your place to take a ‘side’ on it, as i have seen some do, or to act as if you know everything about it when you do not. 6. theologians, whilst they may not be ordained ministers or preachers, or even christian, often have very complex and nuanced understandings of the Bible, and we should listen to them more. 7. women are equal to men, and deserve to be treated as such within the structure of all churches. female ministers, priests, deacons, etc. - all okay! 8. much of the Bible is metaphorical rather than literal. the Bible and science can and should co-exist. 9. Christians in positions of political power should keep their religion and whatever decisions they might make separate, and instead consider what is the best course of action for all people on earth, rather than base their decisions on reaching a heaven that many do not believe in. 10. if someone says that they’re uncomfortable with you sharing the gospel with them, praying for them, or discussing Christianity around them, stop and do not torment them with questions about ‘why’. don’t force your religion upon anyone - share it if they’re willing, but don’t force it.
