This needs a little explanation to understand what it means. Anyway, certain constellations can be seen at certain times of the day and certain times of the year. This shows what constellations are visible right now in what direction. It shows a slice for each month. In those slices are constellations that are directly South and highest up in the sky that day at 10 PM. The constellation Orion is in the January slice, because it will be highest up each day at 10 PM in January. It still gets highest up each day, but at different times each day. January is the only time this happens at 10 PM. This only works well in some locations, because certain constellations can only be seen in some places. This only works in Southern Canada, the Contiguous USA, Southern Europe, North Africa, China, Central Asia, and most of the North Pacific.
