Entering for Violet Skull Dog! Name: Mellohi Species: Ghost-cat About: Mellohi (Mell for short) is a ghost spirit who roams round a large birch forest, looking after all who live there. She was a herb-gatherer in that very forest, but fell from a tree gathering berries. Short Story: Mell padded quietly through the forest, her feet hovering inches above the blanket of fiery leaves that covered the grass. "Hello?" she called, her voice echoing through the forest in that way it had done for years. No reply came, but as she stepped forwards, a baby bird came tumbling down from its nest. She smiled and jumped up to greet it, pushing it gently back into the nest with a small purr of happiness. She floated back down to the ground, walking until she reached what she was looking for: a small altar. Leaves grew over the rock, but none of them came close to the centrepiece; a purple gem that glowed with a soft light. The altar had been there for as long as she could remember; herb gatherers when she had lived would place part of what they found there, in respect for the spirits that protected them. Now, Mellohi was one of the spirits, and it was her job to care for the forest and those within it. She smiled, and scooped up a pile of thyme leaves, smelling the forest in each one. "Good luck," she whispered, blowing on the leaves and sending them fluttering softly away, ready to grow more herbs to feed the people who needed them.
