1997 Honda Civic Type R (EK9) The EK-generation was the first Civic to get the "Type R" badge. The EK9 is based off the 3-door Civic SiR. It had the same track-focused philosophy of the Integra, with weight-reducing materials, a close ratio transmission, among other items. The Civic and Integra's B16B unit is one of the highest power output per liter of all time for a naturally aspirated engine.
