Chapter Seven THALIA GRACE I wept like crazy. Reyna comforted me, and Amanda did the best she could, crafting another metal stretcher to carry my wet shriveled body of tears. And they did all this while holding back four spartus. I seriously owe these guys. I owe them even more for understanding my sadness. I’d say Reyna helped the most, because she had also been leader before, but I could see that even though Reyna helped the most, Katherine was trying the hardest. She was furiously mixing up some medicine that somehow cured Oh, yeah. That was after we escaped the spartus. You see, Amanda discovered this really cool thing that while the spartus could reform after being attacked by Imperial gold, Celestial bronze, or Stygian iron, they were not immune to Greek fire. Obviously, after discovering that, the spartus were dead, so we set camp. By nighttime, I had recovered enough to function normally. I walked into our medical base camp. “Is she going to be okay?” I whispered nervously as I looked at Luna’s pale body. “Should be,” Katherine said, furiously mixing some energetic mixture in her medicine pot. “If your definition of ‘okay’ is not responding to any medicine I have fed her so far, then yes,” Reyna muttered as she filled a jar with some new medicine. “Thank you, Nurse Happy News,” Katherine said worriedly. “Look, I need your honest opinion. Is she okay or not?” I asked, because I knew those two never argued, and when they did, something serious was going on. Reyna sighed. “Do you have to be so good at reading us, Thalia? I’ll tell you the truth. Thanatos came at sunset and told us to go to find Nico di Angelo and request his help in retrieving Luna’s soul by dawn otherwise Luna would be dead forever. I suppose it’s not that bad, considering we needed Nico to be able to summon Zoe anyway.” “Seriously?” I asked after Katherine told the tale of Death’s short visit. “Unfortunately, we are very serious.” Amanda said, walking into the camp. “You knew about this too? Come on, guys! We’re supposed to be a team!” I exclaimed. Amanda lowered her head in shame. “Sorry, we just didn’t want to burden you with more bad news.” I softened a bit. “It’s fine. Well, we’re the followers of the moon goddess for a reason. Come on, guys. Let’s break camp.” I don’t think I have ever been as tired as I am now. It’s true, being followers of the moon goddess gives us extra strength during the nighttime, but that doesn’t mean we can march through Manhattan without any sleep in the past twenty-four hours. “I’m tired,” Katherine said. “Can we please sleep now?” I yawned. “Don’t think I’m not tired.” “Wait-guys? I’m pretty sure this is just wishful thinking, but there could be a cure for drowsiness. After all, there’s a cure for everything,” Reyna said. Amanda’s eyes lit up at the sound of the idea. “Please please please let us find the cure!” “Fine,” I said before passing out.
