He thought it was a good idea to enter for a "paw" contest where scientists had to beat world records for worlds larges paws, smallest paws, longest toe beans, etc. Robo was at home testing for the big show, when suddenly he bumped into some chemicals and they mixed. Creating a thing blue fog in the air. Robo quickly closed his eyes, but when he opened them he thought nothing was wrong and carried on. But he reach for his mixture to clean it up, and saw his paws. Robotic like claws not quite connected to his wrists. He freaked out and he instantly quit the contest and made sure no one saw them.
