This is a variation of a thought experiment proposed by Newton. This shows how gravity is the thing that makes an apple fall AND the same thing that makes the moon go around the earth.
Use the slider to adjust the firing speed of the cannon. If the speed is too low the apple will crash into earth. If the speed is too high the apple will fly off into space. If the speed is just right, you can park the apple in orbit.
