Hi everyone! This is my attempt at writing a book, wish me luck! The first few chapters might be kinda boring, sorry about that! BTW TW) uhhh kidnapping, blacking out, m u r d e r, yeaaaahhhh..... Without further ado, here's Adroits, chapter 1. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Everything came back in pieces. The low lull of the car's engine was the first. Then came the static of someone's walkie-talkie around me. I opened my eyes for a moment, then collapsed back in my seat from exhaustion. How long had I been out? I felt a gag around my mouth. I tried wiggling my fingers, waking them up one by one. Someone had taught me to do that, but I didn't remember who. I opened my eyes again, feeling more alert than before. I looked around the vehicle. Sitting in front of me were three men wearing dark suits and black sunglasses. On either side of me were matching men. I tried raising my arms in a stretch, but they were locked in place. Same with my legs. My eyes widened just as the man to my left reached over and tied a blindfold over my eyes. They popped headphones over my ears, and just like that, my senses were all but deprived of me. I could still feel the smooth leather of the chair under my fingers though, so they weren't all gone. I clung to the leather, anchoring myself to some piece of reality. Eventually, I felt the vehicle slow to a stop. I felt the click of my binds being released and instantly tried to stretch my arms. One of the men grabbed the back of my neck and I gasped. He forced me to walk to the right of my seat. I kept my hands on them so I didn't trip. I still had a blindfold and the noise-cancelling headphones on. Another man grabbed my shoulders and tugged me forward, with a third man grabbing my legs. When I was standing on the ground, they took the headphones off, but left the blindfold on. They also handcuffed my hands behind my back. I longed for the car to take me home where I belonged, but I heard the car's engine start up as it drove away, leaving me surrounded by the men. If my gag hadn't still been in, I would've probably "given them some 'tude" as my mother would've called it. The men grabbed me again - in all of the uncomfortable places I might add - and lead me inside. After a bit of walking, the men shoved me down into the cushioned seat. I shifted in it trying to get comfortable with my hands still bound as they undid my gag. I coughed, trying to suck in as much clean air as I could. Lastly, they took off my blindfold. "Calm down," said a soothing voice in front of me. "Your safe here." I saw a white man sitting in front of a computer screen. He had greying hair and piercing blue eyes that wouldn't look at me. In contrast to the men that had led me in here, he was wearing an aquamarine suit with a black and red striped tie. At his comment, I whipped my head up to set him straight. "I'm sorry, I'm safe here?" I said sarcastically. "What do you mean, safe here? I wake up in a car with none of my limbs at my disposal with a gag in my mouth. I'm surrounded by 10 FBI agents ready to take me out using any means necessary! Not to mention I don't even know where I am because they blindfolded me! If you call that safe, you need a dictionary, sir, because that is not the definition of safe. Heck- look it up on that computer that you're staring at! You haven't even looked at me even though you obviously told these men to come drag me away from whatever I was doing." The man finally turned his head away from the computer to look at me. "And what, pray tell, were you doing?" He asked, his ice blue eyes piercing my hazel ones. His glance startled me into silence. I shifted in my seat again. "Right. So, to get right down to business," he started. "Your name is Aiko Hatchsmith, you're in 9th grade, you are 15, your hobbies are..." He trailed off as he gave me a side look. "Non-applicable, okay then." I rolled my eyes. He seemed weirded out. "You previous school was Dravelle High, you-" "Wait, what do you mean, previous?" I asked. "The school year just started." The man just rolled his eyes and stared back at his computer. "You live in a typical urban home with your parents Neil and Melanie Hatchsmith. Earlier in life, your siblings, Mandy and Ian Hatchsmith, lived with you - Mandy even shared a room with you!" His voice went high as he pretended to be interested. I glared in response. "Mandy now goes to a boarding school and you haven't seen her in years and Ian-" he squinted at the screen as his voice got quiet- "passed away-" --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- VVVVV CONTINUED DOWN BELOW VVVVV
"He was m u r d e r e d [i spaced it out bc i dont want st after me]." I spat viciously. I started leaning towards him as the men behind me placed warning hands on my shoulders. I didn't care. "He was murdered by the king's people after he outlawed adroits. The king could care less about adroits, about him-" Suddenly I was cut off by the threatening blackness at the edges of my vision. The man finally looked at me, giving me a smirk as everything faded to black. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- That's chapter one!
