THIS THING BROKE, FOR SOME REASON THE LIST DOESN'T SHOW Edit: Fixed it up, turned out i shoved the list completely of the screen somehow lol. READ THIS: For less lag, wait to scroll until it gets to a length of 200000 Put in any number to the text box, but in the end, it will end up in an infinite loop of 4, 2, 1. This is the Collatz Conjecture. The idea of the Collatz Conjecture is that if you follow the guidelines, you will always end up at 4, 2, 1. The rules are: If the number is even, divide by 2 If the number is odd, multiply by 3 and add one. NOTE: If you get a number that never ends in 4, 2, 1, please tell me because you might have just settled an 85 year debate on whether there is a number that never ends in this loop. (It would be almost impossible, but just in case)
I'll try to respond to all of your comments, but if I do miss one, sorry in advance. Fun Fact: 27, despite being such a small number, takes 111 steps to get to the endless loop! Also, 32768 only take 14 steps to get there! Thanks to Veritasium video on youtube for showing me this. I had this idea about a year ago, so I just kinda kept experimenting with it, but I couldn't figure it out, until now! Do you think there is a number? comment below! Note: Negative numbers, numbers over 20 digits, and decimals do not work. #math #education #educational
