What he ACTUALLY wants: to be a baker. — — — — ˊˎ- ᎬXᎢᏒᎪ Zuesses (sing. Zuesse | plur. Zuesses) » a cat-like species. Each one comes in any shade or variety of colors that you may see in a sky, whatever time of day. Every Zuesse has patchy, glowy white spots splattered randomly on their fur, which blend in with their fur like clouds. No Zuesses are born with wings or powers. Their builds are typically slender, agile, and lightweight; built for speed. The Zuesses reside in a solitary kingdom, where they take basic jobs. They're very religious, and everyone makes every move based on their gods, the Skyspirits. Hawkpreys (sing. Hawkprey | plur. Hawkpreys) » a cat species similar to Zuesses... They're bigger and more rustic looking, with wide, tawny wings like hawks. They're typically lean and muscular in size. Dotted on each of their faces are a pair of narrow eyes, which allow them to spy things well in the distance. They live in a kingdom nearby to Zeru's. It seems that their favorite pastime is to try to infiltrate and take over his kingdom. What a "sacred prince" does » Zeru's rank is a sacred prince. He's commonly referred to as a Sacred, which means the same thing. A Sacred's job is to protect and fight for his kingdom at any cost and has no say in whether they take this job or not. The female version of a prince is the princess, and any other gender is referred to as a princex. These sacred jobs are not chosen by blood as you might expect. Instead, every time one Sacred dies, the Skyspirits (a trio of gods) conference about who the new one will be. (There's only one Sacred at a time.) The Skyspirits do this by looking into the soul of every eligible Zuesse. They see who is the most noble or loyal, or who has the greatest chances to grow mentally and physically and protect their kingdom. It just so happened that after Peregrine the Valiant died, the Skyspirits chose Zeru. He was chilling peacefully in a garden when a messenger came rushing in and announced his new title as prince. The changes were immediate. After being selected, every Sacred gains new powers and a slightly new appearance. For one thing, they get a new pair of wings, which float just above their shoulders and give them the power to fly. They also get new fighting skills and a holy connection to the Skyspirits. A Sacred has no say in whether they want that job or not. — — — — ˊˎ- BᎪᏟᏦᏚᎢOᏒᎽ Zeku was born in a poor family on the outskirts of the Zuesse kingdom. He was the fourth kitten born to his parents, and after him came three others -- he was the middle child, and it couldn't have been any harder. It seemed that his younger and siblings got all the attention, while he was, well, stuck in the middle. He grew used to the lack of attention. He became very dependent, and more than able to handle himself. Zeru might have been shy, but he developed a feisty, stubborn spirit that could get him basically everything. He was relaxing in his family's garden when a messenger sent by the Skyspirits came zooming in. The messenger said, "Zeru of Moonbow Village: The Skyspirits have chosen the kingdom's new Sacred after the death of Prince Peregrine the Valiant. All hail Prince Zeru!" then zoomed away. Zeru had been left in a stunned silence, before running off to tell his parents. At first, they didn't believe him. But overnight, when he grew a new pair of wings, it became clear: Zeru truly was a Sacred. All at once, it seemed that everyone knew. News was spread of the new prince, and Zeru's name was whispered through the streets, in alleys, on rooftops... It was especially popular in the Hawkpreys' kingdom. The queen of the Hawkprey queendom, Caelestis, was becoming annoyed with the Zuesses' continuous cycle of Sacreds. The Sacreds were the ones who kept defeating her army, after all. She realized that if she could find a way to eliminate the Skyspirits and then the current prince, Zeru, then her longtime feud with the Zuesses would finally be over.
