So there's a lot to the backstory that I left out, either because it was too scary or I was lazy. I haven't exactly described Opal's side to it, which is actually really important. I don't want to tell it now bc I'm lazy. But here we go. Opal was a normal she-cat living in the alley. She had just become mates with a handsome tom (currently unnamed) when a tragedy struck (currently undecided) and Opal was severely wounded (currently eating nothing, rip). The brilliant scientist who programmed Bit found her, and he took her, still unconscious, to help her recover. He and Bit needed to replace several of her bones with artificial ones, but more importantly, they needed to replace her heart. Opal was kept asleep in a coma while the scientist was busy working on the computer that would be implanted inside. Bit did what he could, and he worried a lot for her life. However, soon before the scientist could finish the computer, Bit malfunctioned horribly (read notes and credits in link above to get an idea of how serious it was). He was set loose, and the scientist had to revive Opal alone. She eventually did wake up, and after staying with the scientist for several weeks to regain her full health, she returned to the alley. Only she never found her mate. And strangely, because of her computer heart, she would glitch away for a few moments when her emotions became too high. This wasn't very fortunate for her, because Opal was a very frightened and jumpy cat. But what scared her most was her thoughts. She would hear a strange voice in her head. It would always say, "I'm coming for you, Opal." This was Bit speaking to her from a distance. His coding and her computer heart gave them some sort of link, but Opal was never aware of this. She didn't even know who Bit was. Months passed, and word spread about a monster cat who was going about terrorizing innocent cats. Opal wondered if this monster was the voice she'd been hearing for so long. Bit himself felt a connection with Opal, and he felt this meant he had to find her and destroy her. Soon, Opal unpredictably ran into Bit. She instantly knew who he was, and before even he could react, she slashed at open metal with her claws and broke him down. Several cats rejoiced that they were free from the monster, but Opal felt ashamed from what she had done. She eventually couldn't bear to take care of herself, so she went to live with the scientist who cared for her so long ago. He had found Bit's remains, and he worked hard to repair him. It was at this point that Opal discovered Bit had worked to save her life before he became corrupt. The new Bit looked like a piece of junk, and he was basically a new person. He was still kind and helpful, but knowing that he was built to be a previous character just didn't make him the same. He still had the memories of working on Opal, and he told her, "I'm sorry I can't be the cat that saved your life." Yyyup. I want coffee. In my mug. That has Brighty on it. Yes I have one of those. jelly
