(Mainly for the benefit of CCRP II people, which is why it's in that studio.) I AM BACK ON! (For now.) BUT please read important Second Edit at the end. The Olympics are going ahead as planned, so don't worry about them, but after they are over, frankly, just about anything could happen. The school wants my laptop so it can install some software on it and fix some bugs (like my speakers malfunctioning). They gave incredibly short notice, but the upshot is tomorrow I've got to take this thing down to school. I plan to get up early-ish so I can check my messages, so if it's morning for you I'll probably respond to any messages intended for me within a few hours, but past then I'll be inactive for an indefinite amount of time. Last time the school took my laptop off me for maintenance it took several weeks, so don't expect me back on until I've actually started school again, when I won't be able to go on until 4PM. I'm sorry about this; it's unavoidable. PLEASE PUT ANY INFORMATION I NEED TO KNOW (INCLUDING OLYMPICS UPDATES) into this article: https://ccrp.miraheze.org/wiki/New_Canciona_updates_dump I'll check it when I get back on. An edit: After I shared this, my mum made comments implying that I might even get my laptop back on the same day as I handed it over. But I'm not counting on it. Another edit: I got it back within a day. But the school doesn't appear to have changed anything apart from making me do a full factory restart set up again. Importantly, they have failed to fix my audio even though I told them to. I bought this computer off them, so they should have given it to me fully-functional. But I spent my entire afternoon running one audio troubleshoot after another, including all of both MS Settings and Device Manager ones I could do without knowing the specifics of my hard drive that the school somehow forgot to provide me with. (Actually I've been confronted with several dozen optional driver updates, but again I need someone who knows what they're doing to tell me which one(s) are appropriate to my device, since I have better uses for my hard drive space than downloading them all.) Anyway, on Monday I'm going to go down to school and explain this to them, paying particular attention to how they were supposed to have sorted this out for me. If this means waiting until the end of the holidays for my laptop to be returned, so be it. I've made all necessary arrangements for CCRP to be run in my absence. I've worked out what the actual problem is, I think, and that is that, to quote my sound control panel, "no audio device is installed". Google insists on thinking I mean an audio driver, and until I've confirmed with someone more knowledgeable than I am that Google is correct in this, I don't want to follow any of its advice in case I make the problem worse (and besides, I checked the driver-related advice it had to offer and I've already tried all of the suggested troubleshooting methods except the ones that involve making actual, physical changes to my hard drive). Anyway, the school's being paid to deal with this problem, and I'm not. End of rant.
