Use the arrow keys to scroll. Adjust speed with the sliding bar. Press k to show the key, and x to hide. To jump to a certain place in time, press q. The year you are at is in the middle of the screen. (So if an event is close to the beginning or end of a time period, it may show even if the 'current' time period does not include it. Ex. The formation of the Earth might still show even if the background is 'Pre-Earth'.
