Sorry for leaving y'all on a cliffhanger, but there will be many more to come. For now, this. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Owww" I moaned as I rushed back to consciousness. I felt little zaps all over me and my head spun. I tried to reach up and rub my eyes, but no such luck. They were locked down again, as were my ankles. My short hair had fallen in my face, I tried to shake it out of my eyes, but it only made it worse. I looked around. I was sitting semi-upright on a flat piece of metal. My hands and ankles were locked down with metal bindings attached to the slab. All over my body was little stickers with wires attached to them. They were on my temples, my ankles, the inside of my elbows and wrists, and a bunch of more uncomfortable spots. I could feel little metal pieces inside the stickers, too. The chair was situated directly in the middle of an all white room, with a wide window panel sitting in front of me. The computer-obsessed man was standing there, but this time, looking intently at me. I looked away as soon as I met his gaze. "Now that you're up," he started. "We can get started. I'm guessing you'll be a bit more cooperative now that we're here, so let's get on with it, shall we, or would you like a demonstration?" "A demonstration of what-" "Oh, talking back, I see." He whispered to someone out of sight. "I think you'll think twice about doing that in the future." "Why? You don't own me," I said. "You can't do anything, stuck behind a window." "Au contraire," He said maniacally. Suddenly, I felt zaps all over my body, especially in the spots with the stickers. The headache grew worse. "See what I mean?" He cackled. He obviously liked this method much better. "This is a very, what's the word, persuasive training technique. I want you to hush up, and you don't seem to listen. We need to train that out of you." "I'm not a dog- OWW!" He'd zapped me again. "Had enough?" I glared at him. He smirked back. "Perfect. Now, onto business. I'm assuming you'd like to know why you're here, no?" He smiled again at no response. "You remember how King Dravelle illegalized the use of adroits seven years, don't you? When he took the crown?" I raised my eyebrows. "Well, in compliance with the law, we were ordered to round up all the children adroits." "But I'm not an adoi-" "Hush child," he said as he zapped me again. I started seeing spots. "Which leads me to why you are here. You have the potential to become an adroit-" "By what evidence?" I cut him off. I didn't care about getting zapped at this point. I wanted answers. "Seeing as your brother and sister were both adroits, it seems only reasonable that you would be. Also, we had you tested." I started to object, but was promptly zapped. "We do that with all children around 12 years of age." He continued. "Your data was off the charts, which proved only reasonable that we collect you as soon as possible." "But-" Zapped. "But you'll notice how we recieved you at 15 years of age instead of 12 to 13 years of age. I don't know why they waited so long myself." "And who are you?" More zapping. I was starting to get dizzy. "You'll find out eventually." He replied. "You'll notice that your powers haven't developed yet. Seeing as you have to be an adroit to attend this school-" "Whoa, whoa, whoa, hold up - no one said anything about school!" He zapped me. "Yes, school. Anyways, scientists have developed a solution for this very occasion. We are going to turn your powers on for you." "And how do you go about doing that?" Zapped. What a surprise. "By doing this:" He motioned towards my right, and a group of people came in wearing white hazmat suits. "Your treatment starts right now." He must've turned the voltage all the way up on the zapper, because right at that moment, I felt the electricity pulse through my veins. I screamed in agony. My head screamed with me, praying for this nightmare to end. I pushed myself off the slab, arching my back, as I felt more zapping coming from there. As the people in hazmat suits swarmed around me, my eyes grew heavy, though my head was still screaming. One of them pushed my hair out of my eyes, but at this point it didn't even matter anymore. Finally, I faded into the blissful blackness of unconsciousness.
I feel like this one is not as long as the first chapter, but lmk what u think!!!!!!!!
