hurricane hermine formed of the coast of africa. with the unusually warm waters of 93 degrees, hermine started to intensify. th next day, it has 165 mph and already hit barbados and heading for cancun mexico, then weaken from 175 to 150, then reintensified to cat 5 stength 185 mph and hit Galveston tx and huston. then in kentucky, it was a td but it stalled and caused 2 feet of rain. and caused 4.3b dollars in toatal damage. then came nicole and owen. they both formed nearly at the same time and 600 miles away from each other. they both hit Puerto rico owen at 634 am and nicole at 349 pm. then both storms were heading for new york but the thing was nicole was moving 10 mph faster than owen and ate the hurricane strengthened to 165 mph making a very catostrophic landfall. julia formed near jamaca and in just 4 hours it was at cat 4 status. because of its slow movement over cuba, it dumped 6 feet of rain plus the 18 feet storm surge, many people died because they were thinking it was going to be just a tropical storm. so when they found out that it was a cat 4, they did not have enough time to evacuate. and killed 12192 people. then hit florida as a cat 2 and killed 146. hurricane shary was a historic storm. it formed on dec 19 and hit maine as a cat 3 extratropical cyclone. and caused a major snowstorm and caused the biggest power outage since the november 7 1965 power outage. 39 million people were without power
