Ok so here's a song I wrote - or at least part of a song - for the SWC Parodies studio. It's 'Surface Pressure' except rewritten to talk about the problems of balancing dailies, weeklies, word/cabin wars, and irl responsibilities. Because when does anyone ever listen to "school > swc, sleep > swc, life > swc?" Let's be honest, we all have our fingers crossed behind our backs when we say that. So anyways, here are the lyrics to the first verse and chorus of my version of 'Surface Pressure': (first verse) I'm a strong writer, I'm not nervous Type as fast as a cheetah that's hyper, and I am ready to type more words so I smash on my keyboard's surface I don't ask what the word goal is 1000, 2000, or more? sure! got rival cabins? defeat 'em, I flatten 'em I type one-handed, through weeklies demanding but under the surface I'm berserk, little sleep, sibling circus under the surface my parents are like "No, you can't, coffee's for grownups" under the surface I'm pretty sure I'm worthless if my cabin's not the highest a flaw or a crack homework's in a stack my carpal tunnel's back my wrist feels really bad and (chorus) pressure like a 5000 word weekly that never stops, woah pressure like a tick tick tick almost 12 o clock, woah finish up your dailies, move the boulder throw the weeklies over your shoulder don't forget the cabin wars our victory smolders who am I if I can't keep up with them all? if my word speed falls to pressure coming minute after minute gotta type type type, woah my computer's battery is going down now it's gonna d!e, woah my character development needs to be stronger my chapter lengths need to be longer as my word count goes up, my story's quality falls I fall (second verse) under the surface I hide my nerves, it worsens, what if a rival cabin hurts us under the surface my plotline doesn't swerve as it hears how big that twist is under the surface my first draft's gonna burn up, can I somehow preserve this? stack up the proof a light wind blows you try to stop it toppling but on and on it goes Ookay, that's all I have for now!
