ᴇʟʟɪᴇ ɪs ᴛʏᴘɪɴɢ... ↫↫↫↬↬↬ Hello! So, as you may know, February is black history month. I wanted to do a project in honor of this month. So I decided to do it on Misty Copeland. You might know that I love ballet. Well Misty Copeland is a famous ballerina! She has a really inspiring story. She didn't grow up with a lot of money. She and her family moved around a lot. When she found ballet, she was 13. Most ballerinas start ballet at the age of 3 or 4! But Misty found that she was very good at ballet, and she went on pointe just 8 weeks after she started! To do ballet she had to make a lot of commitments and a lot of hard choices, including leaving her family. But it was worth it! In June 2015, Misty became the first African-american female principal dancer in American Ballet Theatre's 75-year history. Misty still has not retired, and she is 39 years old! Misty is a really great role model, and she shows that you shouldn't give up. Misty faced a lot of prejudice growing up, because ballet has a very racist history. We are turning that around though! If you want to see what Misty looks like, there is a picture of her in the project. Anywho, thanks for tuning in. See ya! ↫↫↫↬↬↬ ᴇʟʟɪᴇ ɪs ʟᴇᴀᴠɪɴɢ ᴛʜᴇ ᴋᴇʏʙᴏᴀʀᴅ... ☂
